FAVORITE SONGS FROM CHEESY 1980’S FILMS, PART 2
“Reproduction” in Grease 2
Grease 2 is the salt to the sugar of the original Grease. It has a similar ‘X has to change for Y to like her/him’ formula, but it’s a little less pact, has no real likable characters (they’re all pretty sexist, stupid or bland), and jumps from ‘racy’ to ‘contemplative’ so quickly that it’s hard for either tone to stick. I particularly like the song ‘Reproduction’ because it reminds me of something John Waters might write. It’s raunchier than the original version, but still maintains a strong bubblegum flavor.
Favorite lyric:
WHERE DOES THE POLLEN GO?
Another favorite from the film:
Cool Rider (performed by the 24 year-old Michelle Pfeiffer). Possibly the catchiest song from the film and oh so cheesy. C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R…
