If you go to the Big Buddha on top of the mountains of Lantau Island in Hong Kong, you can write a little wish for Buddha to grant (though “Please make backwards swastikas look less like regular swastikas, it’s still creepy” was not one of them). While most were generic pleas for world peace and a little protection from swine flu, some of them were for nice things (see first one below), and some were obviously written by white colonizers (see other two).



It’s either MONEY or BONEY, and who wouldn’t want a little more of either?
